At first glance the Extra Normal Watch by Ross McBride is simply an elegant, minimalist watch. But things are not so simple. A subtle effect is taking place, as elusive numbers pass in and out of view. (The "hour hand" is actually a disk, with the hour hand shape reversed out, exposing the numbered face beneath.) He earned his bachelor's degree in graphic design from the California Institute of the Arts, and upon graduation moved to Tokyo where he has lived ever since. He has worked on projects for Duende, E&Y, Max Ray, Starbucks Japan, Water Studio, Sharp, Sony, World Co. Ltd., and currently serves as a panel member of 100% Design Tokyo.
